Creating the Life You Love

Creating the Life You Love

By: Carmen M. Pena, M.A

Women of the Power Up community, it’s time to claim our power and freedom as we create lives we love. In this sacred space we get to play and explore who we are and who we are becoming. We have the power to live our dreams and goals above and beyond what we could imagine.

There are many ways to do this and, like me, I’m sure you have found some of those ways don’t feel so good. Wisdom shows a better way may be to practice love and compassion instead of judging ourselves and others.

Let’s consider no longer focusing on our past, the labels we put on ourselves and/or the boxes we allow others to check off for us. It takes vulnerability and courage to move past the conflict within ourselves and tune into our power. The intention of this conversation is to help us learn how to breathe, live and create from this place.

“When the personality comes fully to serve the energy of the soul, that is authentic power.” This definition of authentic power described by Gary Zukav resonates with Oprah Winfrey, a woman who embodies what it means to Power Up in life and business.

As I reflect on how my personality serves my soul, it is clear that as a Latina woman I offer diverse and rich perspectives and experiences living my purpose as a coach and speaker. I humbly practice the freedom of moving through life with an open heart and mind, making choices that allow healthy transformations in myself and others.

This freedom is the truth of who we really are and knowing this is how we get to tap into and turn on our true power. We are in a time when it would benefit us all to live from our truth, individually and as a collective of women, doing this can have a positive influence on our individual lives and all of humanity.

All of this takes practice and we can begin to shift by identifying in each moment the things that take away our freedom, including ourselves. One teacher says, “We are so free we can choose bondage.” I’m done choosing bondage, allowing myself to create from a place of doubt, fear or worry. Because one thing is for sure, if we create from that place, what we create will hold that too.

As we move forward and upward, let’s take a moment to become clear about what we are carrying in this season of our lives, or if we’re in transition, what we carry into the next season. I did this exercise and realized I was no longer willing to have limitations stop me from living my truth as a woman who was created to be happy, healthy and wealthy. What I want for myself, I want for you too. Each choice I make needs to reflect this mindset and knowing.

The times when I don’t make a choice from this perspective, I have the freedom to soothe and forgive myself, finding joy and magic in this new moment. It has been one of the simplest but most rewarding practices I’ve incorporated into my daily routine and doing things like meditating or taking walks in nature help the practice grow.

This week alone, I experienced a glorious rainbow, three orange ladybugs and the vibrant beauty of leaves changing. These are meaningful reminders of the value in receiving the magnificence of life which helps me to trust I’m on the right path. I’ve been so caught up in getting to the end result of the dream or goal, I often lost sight of appreciating the fun and joy of creation. The growth and satisfaction that comes from finding solutions to problems, the people we get to collaborate with and the muscles we cultivate as we navigate creating something from nothing.

As we Power Up, let’s find the joy in the journey. I promise you, the result will be so much more delicious because we took time to enjoy each step of the way. Our dreams of freedom, fulfillment and fortune are calling to us, “Come this way, come this way, come this way!”

Following our calling releases the judgment and helps us to embrace our personal power. This is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves, our loved ones and the world.
